Doug Barone is a writer living in New York. He's studied literature and writing at The New School for Social Research and in Pulitzer Prize winner Philip Schultz' Writers Studio. At The New School he studied under Sharon Mesmer (The Virgin Formica, In Ordinary Time) Sidney Offit (Memoir of a Bookies Son) Joshua Gaylord (Hummingbirds) Joseph Salvatore (To Assume A Pleasing Shape) Robert Boyers (ed. Salmagundi) and Justice Rosenberg.
He is an undergraduate alumnus of St. Lawrence University and a graduate alumnus of Loyola University. For four years, beginning in 2010, he was selected to study with Rick Moody at the New York State Writer's Institute. In 2013, Rick accepted him as a private student.
Somewhere along the way he began writing about himself in the third person. This is a habit he is trying to break.
